Pupils and staff attended the Pet service in St Andrew's Church after school on 16th September. We give thanks every year for all creatures, great and small particularly our pets. Children are invited to bring their pet along or bring a picture of their pet or a favourite cuddly toy to give thanks and receive a blessing. This year we saw many dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and some noisy baby ducks along with a cuddly horse.
Reverend Juanita led the service alongside our friend Betty and Jane Luckman who organise this gathering each year. Betty told us the story of the lost sheep and the children sang along to songs such as Who built the Ark, and All things bright and beautiful where they were able to join in with instruments. The children enjoyed being on the church, and it was clearly reaffirmed how much our pets are linked to our everyday lives and our families, they are very special to us and help us when we are feeling sad as well as happy.
We thank Jane and Betty for the time they give us and their hard work in organising this event each year.
The community, the Church and the school have come together to build links for our pupils and give them a sound understanding of the importance of being thankful, feeling blessed and the natural world once again. .
