On a pleasant Spring day, a team of year 3 and 4 children took part in the cluster event held at Iceni Academy, Methwold. Competing as a team to collect points, the children transferred their skills learned in a recent block of lessons into the competition against other cluster schools. A variety of stations saw the children using putting and chipping skills in different activities scoring points every time they took their turn. After 10 different games and activities, it was time to hear who had won...Team Norman!
Well done Team, we are very proud of you.
Following the team's success at the cluster event, the boys and girls were invited to the School Sports Partnership event at Thetford Golf Club to compete for the opportunity to represent Breckland at the Norfolk School Games in June, how exciting!
The team played really well and had a fantastic time with lots of support from the travelling parents, whose help is really appreciated. After a round robin of eight events, it was time to find out who had won the event.
Well done team, next stop The Norfolk School Games to represent Breckland Sports Partnership.
The Norfolk School Games is the largest school sport event to ever be held in Norfolk. Since 2012 the annual event has provided opportunities for our pupils across the county to compete in many different sports at different levels. The Norfolk School Games is organised by Active Norfolk and the eight School Sport Partnerships (SSPs) in the county.
Team Norman swapped their red PE t-shirts for Breckland SSP's blue to compete against other teams from different sports partnerships from across the county at Norfolk's Family Golf Centre. Teams from South Norfolk, East Norfolk, West Norfolk, West Norwich, Norwich and Norwich East pitched and putted their way around a series of golfing challenges. The Team found the long grass difficult but finished with determination. They are the first team from Norman Primary School to compete at the level 3 competition and we are very proud of them.
