Welcome to The Norman
Thank you for visiting our website; we hope that as you investigate further you will begin to understand how special our school is. We aim to give you an insight into the richness of learning that takes place at The Norman.
‘Fun and learning round every turning’ – this is our belief which is secured through creating a learning environment where our children feel safe, supported, protected and happy; where contentment, joy and laughter is flowing from the walls.
It is our aim to nurture and develop children into becoming well-rounded individuals who will achieve their potential through their own creativity. We encourage the children to develop a thirst for learning; we aim to allow our children to become independent learners through our creative, inspiring and challenging curriculum. It is our hope that the children who learn at The Norman will aspire to become confident, caring and ambitious adults.
We have a strong Christian ethos which strengthens all of the work we undertake at The Norman. We believe that through using ‘Jesus as our guide’ we can encourage responsible behaviour and respect for all. Through this we can uphold ourselves as an inclusive school community who welcomes all able-bodied and disabled individuals from every ‘walk of life’ including different faiths, genders and ethnic groups.
We have a supportive and dedicated staff team whose work ethic is based on making a difference to all children who attend The Norman. With the support of the community and you, their parents/carers, we are confident that the opportunities we can offer your child are excellent. An effective learning journey requires a joint venture between pupils, parents and educators.
We are very much a village school with the benefits of a caring and supportive community around us. Our year is marked by traditional village and church calendar events often celebrated in creative and idiosyncratic ways. The local community are very generous in supporting fund raising events, which has ensured we are well resourced.
There is a wealth of opportunities for outdoor learning at our school, not least the opportunity that all of our children have to learn through the Forest School Initiative where extensive scientific and environmental learning takes place along with art, design, drama and writing inspired by the natural world.
All of our classrooms have easy access to outdoor learning spaces. We also have the large Fendick Field, left in trust to the children of Northwold for their use. On the field is our school’s very own Langley Lodge; a beautifully crafted outdoor learning space where children can explore their imaginations through play during their breaks and stimulate their imaginations during learning time.
We hope that you enjoy visiting our website, if you have any questions or would like to know more about our school please do not hesitate and get in touch or visit us and we will do our best to help you.
