Netball Breckland Finals, April 2014

Netball club started after the February half term for children in years 5/6. The children trained hard, learnt and applied the rules of high 5 netball and have shown great improvement over the weeks. Our aim was to take a squad to the cluster 'High 5' netball competition at Iceni Academy in March but unfortunately this was cancelled. However, we were invited to go to Thetford Academy in April for the Breckland School Sports Partnership finals.

The squad was chosen and within the rules of the game, we were limited to the amount of players we could take. In a squad of seven, we could include a maximum of three boys but only two can be on court at the same time. Unfortunately, Jack fell ill on competition day and was unable to take part but in stepped a fine replacement - Dylan.

L to R : Daisy, Dylan, Charlie, Mia, Hannah, Leonie and Colin (captain).

The team played three full games on a full size court (much bigger than our court at school!), rotating positions at the end of each quarter. The team got off to a winning start against Feltwell Primary and played some great netball, applying all the rules. Next, they came up against a very strong Attleborough team and then finally played Methwold Primary in a game where both teams were evenly matched.

Time for the presentation; had Northwold qualified for the next stage...

YES they had!

Many congratulations to the lads and lasses who now progress to the Breckland Summer Games finals to be held in July.

Well done, we are all very proud of your achievement.
