The Norman

Tag Rugby 2017/18

Wednesday 8th November 2017

On a bright and chilly day, the Norman tag rugby team competed in the cluster event at Iceni Academy, Methwold and finished second overall! What an achievement! They played some fantastic rugby , worked together and were also awarded the fair play award. Georgia was the star scoring eight tries with Cameron, Izabelle, Kacie and Chloe also getting on the score sheet.

I'd like to thank Freddie, Sidney, Ruby, Isaac , Reuben, Henry, Mickey and Mr Bunten for their support too. Special mention to Daisy who couldn't play due to an injury but wanted to be there to support the team. Also to Finley and Tom who have supported the after school club and will be the foundations of the team next year with Ruby, Emily and Chloe.

Well done Team Norman, I am very proud of you all.

Following the team's second place finish we were invited to the Breckland Tag Rugby Finals held at Saham Toney on a day that the weather was atrocious and  the team struggled to get going. With persistent rain, high winds and pitches that were boggy and muddy, Team Norman were a little rusty but played some excellent rugby in difficult conditions against teams from Ashill, All Saints and Great Hockham . Overall, the team won two games and came second in four more which meant a third place finish on the day scoring fourteen tries - Izabelle, Daisy, Cameron, Kacie, Georgia and Rory all going over the try line.

Team Norman L to R - Chloe, Rory, Daisy, Georgia, Cameron, Izabelle, Kacie, Emily and Ruby

No one could take away the team spirit on display from all the children, and once again this was recognised by the event organisers and officials with an award for their Sportsmanship.

Georgia was also awarded an individual medal for her outstanding performance throughout the competition.
