The Norman

An Olympic feat!

Sixteen KS2 children represented the school at the Science Olympiad today at the UEA. Year 6 pipped the competition by a few millimetres!

What a great day the children had. A lecture by Dr Ken Farquer introduced the children to the idea of 'It's all done by mirrors'. The children went off in their year groups to collect their own DNA, build the tallest tower they, creatre a scissor action device that would raise a weight as high as possible and create a machine to throw a marshmallow as near to a target as possible. Well done to Harry and Callum for getting their marshmallow touching the target and beating the nearest pair by a few millimetres. Alice and Isobel just missed getting an award. All the children did really well and demonstrated their ability to think around problems.
